Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This polygon feature class was created by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and then later adapted by the Crawford County Planning Office for the purpose of demonstrating the spatial extent of each Landscape Conservation Area and Biological Diversity Area outlined within the 2008 Natural Heritage Inventory for Crawford County (NHI). Both Landscape Conservation Areas and Biological Diversity Areas were derived through analysis methods outlined within the NHI’s executive summary beginning on page ix. This feature class was adapted in 2021 as part of an effort led by the Crawford County Planning Office to prepare GIS data for routine Community Planning usage and the update of the County’s 2014 Comprehensive Plan. Data within this feature class will be used to conduct environmental analysis, support future comprehensive land use planning, and conduct consistency reviews. The polygon geometry represented by this feature class was supplied by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. The only alteration performed on the spatial geometry contained within this feature class was the splitting of all polygon features along the lines of the municipal boundaries created by the Crawford County Planning Office. In addition to demonstrating the spatial extent of each specified Landscape Conservation Area or Biological Diversity Area, this feature class contains data for each feature within a series of fields. These fields were created during Crawford County’s adaption of the feature class and include:</SPAN></P><UL><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_AREA_NAME {Area Name} – A text field used to document the name assigned to a specified area of ecological significance. This includes areas specified as Landscape Conservation Areas (LCAs) and Biological Diversity Areas (BDAs). </SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_DESCRIPTION {Description} – A text field used to provide a summary of the environment contained within the specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA).</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_RESEARCH_UNIT {Research Unit} – A numeric field used to catalog the classification of research unit used to describe and study the specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA).</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_DOCUMENTED_THREATS {Documented Threats} – A text field used to provide a summary of the environmental stresses and threats reported within the Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) for the specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA).</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_RECOMMENDATIONS {Recommendations} – A text field used to provide a summary of the recommendations provided within the Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) for the specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA).</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_SIGNIFICANCE {Level of Significance} – A numeric field used to catalog the classification assigned within the Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) to each specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA) concerning its significance/importance to the biological diversity and ecological integrity of Crawford County. </SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>NHI_REFERENCE (NHI Section Reference) – A text field used to reference the section of the Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) document containing information on the specified Landscape Conservation Area (LCA) or Biological Diversity Area (BDA).</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>MUNICIPALITY (Municipality) – A text field used to catalog the local municipality in which the proposed project or strategy is located. </SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>MUNI_FIPS (Municipal FIPS Code) – a numeric field used to identify the local municipal jurisdiction based on the Federal Information Processing Standard.</SPAN></P></LI></UL><P><SPAN>To view the original metadata file authored by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for this resource, please </SPAN><A href="https://arcg.is:443/f1CXP" STYLE="text-decoration:underline;"><SPAN>click here </SPAN></A><SPAN>to be directed to a web page where you can download it directly.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>For additional information about this feature class contact the Crawford County Planning Office at 903 Diamond Park Meadville, PA 16335 or by phone at 814-333-7341.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
