Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This feature class was created in June 2023 for the purpose of studying vehicle crash (roadway accident) trends in Crawford County over the past two decades (2002 to 2021). This resource was created to inform the update of Crawford County's 2014 Comprehensive Plan. The point geometry provided within this feature class was compiled from spreadsheets downloaded from PennDOT's Crash Download Map ( ) for Crawford County. A series of 20 spreadsheets were downloaded for crashes in order to cover the years ranging from 2002 to 2021. These spreadsheets were compiled into a single sheet that was then converted into a database file in order to be process in GIS. Each crash record was digitized by plotting X (longitude) and Y (latitude) coordinates provided within the original dataset by PennDOT. Records from the earlier years provided within the dataset were more likely to omit GPS coordinates with omissions reducing over the years. Records without GPS coordinates were not mapped. Despite not providing a complete record of all crashes along State roads in Crawford County between 2002 and 2021, this resource served useful for providing a snapshot of crash data over a span of two decades. The primarily purpose for creating and analyzing this dataset was to determine if accident trends in Crawford County have a relationship to land use and development patterns.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
