Service Description: This polygon feature class was created by the Crawford County Planning Office for the purpose of demonstrating the extent of the geographic subregions comprising Crawford County. Subregions are comprised of varying combinations of submarkets based on geographic location. Submarkets were originally proposed as a part of the 2018 Crawford County Housing Study and were later incorporated into the recommendations and strategies of the 2019 Crawford County Housing Plan which amended Crawford County’s 2014 Comprehensive Plan. Submarkets were delineated as similar areas based on housing characteristics and commuting patterns. This feature class was created in 2021 as part of an effort to monitor and appropriate funding to local municipalities for projects secured through Crawford County’s Act 13 Grant Program. The polygon geometry represented by this feature class was compiled by dissolving submarkets by their respective subregions. In addition to demonstrating the spatial extent of each subregion, this feature class contains data for each feature within a series of fields. These fields include: Subregion – A text field used to classify a subregion of Crawford County based upon the definitions supplied by the 2018 Crawford County Housing Plan. Population – A numeric field used to document of the total population within a subregion based on the sum of population estimates from the most recent decennial census count of the municipalities or census tracts that comprise the subregion. Employed_Workers – A numeric field used to document an approximation of the total number of jobs within a subregion based on the sum of estimates for employed individuals in the labor force from the most recent decennial census count of the municipalities or census tracts that comprise the subregion. Dated Created – A date field used to document when a feature was created. Date Edited – A date field used to document when a feature was last edited.
